Waste transport conveyor

I’ll tell you a little about an interesting project, during which I developed a technical task, and also created application software for Schneider Electric equipment (Quantum – Unity Pro XL) and a touch panel (XBT GT 15 – Vijeo Designer). This is a system of moving transport containers, which allows you to move the metered quantities of ash and compound of solid radioactive waste to the storage system.

The development of this system was complicated by the fact that there was no clear understanding of the entire mechanical part of the project. Since it was in the process of designing and manufacturing, some dynamic moments were not considered. The task consisted in placing the n-th number of containers throughout the conveyor belt, and the container could not be tilted due to a collision with each other or with an obstacle. The position of each of the containers could only be understood through the limit switches and the step of the conveyors. The control system includes conveyors independently, monitoring and considering the presence of containers on the rollers.

Operators fill empty containers into the system. When you click on the button placed on the wall, the conveyor picks up the container installed on the loading table and sends it to the next level. The transportation system is synchronized with the waste management system in such a way as to avoid unloading the compound in the absence of a container, as well as to ensure the cyclical arrival of containers to the loading location. In the process of program development, a large number of various issues related to the dynamics of container advancement through the technological cycle were solved.

In the scope of developing application software, two full-fledged programs were created in the same controller. One is for simulating container advancement, and the other is for manual and automatic control of executive devices, including a protection system. A program for visualizing the transportation process was also carried out separately.
