Description of I/O tables

I/O tables are an effective way to describe the composition of an automation system.

The list of input and output signals (character table) is an integral and fundamental document in the description of the APCS system. Without this document, it is impossible to approach the assessment of the volume of the system, the composition of control objects, to approach the creation of design documentation. The input-output table contains a large amount of information about the composition of the signals included in the object, such as the measurement range, threshold limits, types of devices, types of protection, and so on.

Deciphering the meaning of the columns:

No. p.p. End-to-end numbering of lines in process control systems. This column is required for the convenience of sorting rows. The choice of default row sorting is best chosen by the placement of channels in modules.

An object. The technological place of the device or actuator on which it is located.

Position. I/O channel name according to the selected classification and coding system.

Signal type. If for discrete signals, then it can be either normally open or normally closed. For analog, most likely integer (INT)

The name of the signal. Description of the signal in Russian is inserted in this column. It must adequately describe the purpose of the signal.

frame no. All controllers and system modules are placed in baskets. Each basket is assigned a serial number.

Module type. This column indicates the module model in accordance with the technical specification.

Slot number in the frame. The number of the slot into which the module is inserted. Usually there are 16 modules in each basket.

channel number. Depending on the capacity of each module, there can be from 4 to 32 signals.

Measurement range. Which communication interface is selected for communication with the device. 4-20mA, 0-10V or other

Maximum. The maximum value in engineering units that the signal can reach.

Minimum. The minimum value in engineering units that the signal can reach.

Units. Physical units of the measured parameter.

Block. Block, which is placed in the I / O cabinet, to which field signals are connected

Terminal block (+). Terminal number from which the field device is powered (+24V)

Terminal block(-). Terminal number to which the signal is returned from the field device

protection. This field indicates whether this signal is involved in the protection and blocking scheme

Notes. Comments of the project participants and the NDP.

I/O. This field separates the input or output signal.

Signal source/consumer. This field indicates the location of this signal in a distributed system.
